Many brilliant dreams and life changing ideas have been killed by the guillotine of procrastination, because they were dressed up in a disguise called perfectionism. Have I been guilty of this? Yes, I have experienced the brutality of the ‘lady guillotine’. With understanding why both have a role in my life, I now strive HARD for procrastination not to be my conscious or unconscious chosen reality, and to see perfectionism for what it really is.
Perfectionism, becomes procrastination, when the work that you are wanting to accomplish and share with the world is continuously deemed not good enough by you. In fact, it will never be good enough to share with the world…according to you, that is.
Procrastination is a fear based emotional excuse not to do what you need to do because of the fear of being wrong. Because of the fear of failure, the fear of criticism, the fear of rejection, the fear of disappointing others, the fear of – you fill in the blank.
Perfectionism, in its highest spiritual vibration or frequency, is a continuum that is always evolving, and always refining itself. Perfectionism gives you exclusive permission to create your original work, which then becomes your blueprint, foundation or your starting point. From there, you get to perfect your original work to your heart’s content. You get to recreate, and then recreate, and recreate ad infinitum. The caveat here, is that for this body of work to be perfectionism and not slide into procrastination, you must share each evolutionary process.
Your so called imperfect work, is in reality your perfection waiting to be shared. And yet, your choice to procrastinate will stop that from happening. It’s important to note that procrastination is giving you an important message. It’s providing you with the insight you need to take an in depth, authentic and honest look at what you are doing, and your reasons for doing it. Do not confuse procrastination with your blueprint, foundation or starting point being wrong. Again, you may want to seriously take a hard look at the reasons why you are doing what you are doing and change your intention and focus. Understand the nuance, both perfectionism and procrastination play an invaluable role in your life.
Attractioners, be under no illusion, perfectionism and procrastination are both conscious choices that are made by you, for you. What mode are you currently operating from, perfectionism or procrastination? Which choice will give you your heart’s desire?
